Here's some video footage of British Rally Champion Mark Higgins on the Isle of Man TT circuit in a production-spec Subaru WRX STI.
This video was produced by Road & Track which had a camera on-board but Higgins wasn't alone, he had passenger Chris Cantle with him.
This was Higgins' second attempt at the course that day and, at the one-minute mark on the video, the STI hits a bump and starts to skid wildly as Higgins tries to keep the car from coming undone. He does a great job of it as he so effortlessly eases the car back under his control. He calls the near-miss the "moment of his life", likely due to the fact that a human life had been entrusted to him on this run and not because he'd never experienced skids like that before.
As previously reported, Higgins had set a record at the Isle of Man TT circuit on his very first run that day, completing the 37.8 mile (60.83 km) mountainous road course with a time of 19 minutes and 56.7 seconds.
The second video here below is the same bit except from a different camera angle showing Higgins and Cantle in the car. Amazing how Cantle is able to keep a straight face.
