Alfa 159 1.9jtdm EmmeManifoldu 16V

Yabancı forumlarda gezerken, 16V emme manifoldunda swirl valve adında bir kelebeğin açılıp kapanarak türbülans oluşturduğunu öğrendim, aracım 2006 model, Biraz önce baktım, benim aracımdaki manifold'da bu kelebeklerin bağlantıları yok? Ruhsata bakıyorum, 939A2 Yani 16V olması lazım, acaba başka bir manifold mu taktılar araca ? Araç daha 15 gündür bende? İçime kurt düştü, bilen var mı?
Özel servise de göstermiştik, kimse birşey demedi? fark etmedi yada ?

Bazilarinda var bazilarinda yok. Her 159 da var diyemeyiz. Eger yoksa uzulme sanslisin bozulmayacak ve yeni manifold almana gerek kalmayacak demektir :)

Nasıl olmaz ama? 16V olupta direkt bağlımı diyorsun? Yoksa, her 159 16V değil, 8V olanları da var. 939A1 ler 8V mesela 120HP veriyor, 16V olanlar 150HP veriyor.

Turkiyede 16v olmayan yok zaten. Turkiyeye gelen bazi 159 lar emmesi kelebekli, bazilarinin degil cok basit

güç almak için farklı şeyler deneseniz daha iyi olur bence bu kadar kafanızı yormayın emme manifoldu için :) çünkü gerek yok benim arabamdaki emme manifoldu 68hp için üretilmiş ama ben şuan o emmeyle 200+ güçlerdeyim

Fabrika oyle uretmis.. Belli bi yildan sonra emme manifoldunu bu tipe cevirmisler. Bu aracta gucte bir farklilik yapmaz.

Hmm, alfaowner.com'dan da devam ediyorum, 2008 den sonra bu valfler iptal edilmiş. Ve Plastik manifold'a geçmişler, en büyük sebep ise, actuator kolu 4 valfide kontrol ederken, bazen 1-2 tanesi kendi başlarına çalışmayı tercih ediyorlarmış, ayrıca manifold içinde oynar parça tutmak düşüncesi yüzünden basınç kayıpları oluşmuş, bütün sebebi de EGR'ye bağlıyorlar. çok garipsedim sadece, amacım performans veya ekonomi değil. Bundan önce aldığım araçtan çok tokat yemiştim. buna dikkat ederek aldığımı düşünüyordum. 2006 modelde 2008lerin kullandığı manifold olduğunu düşünmek istiyorum. Gidişi ve yakıtı şu anda ölçebildiğim kadar iyi, ama ne bileyim işte, olması gerekiyorsa olsun,

Alfa 159 larda söylebirşey duydum ne kadar doğru yanlış bilemiyorum. Silindir üst kapağını çatlatma hastalığı varmış. Bu yüzden motor rektefiyeye gidiyor. Bu valve ile alakası olucagını sanmıyorum zaten. Bu silindir kapağı kırma veya çatlatma olayı doğrumu bir bilginiz var mı?

Ben duymadım, ille kırmak ile ilgili birşey istersen, vites kutusu 400NM ile sınırlı M32(1.9jtdm) 1. ve 2. dişlileri çok zayıf, MAP ile 500NM yapıp kıran çok, onun yerine GM-F40 takıyorlarmış, ama işlemlerden daha haberdar değilim. Bulsam kendim yapacağım zaten. Ama kapak ile ilgili hiç verim yok

As far as I and the ePer (Fiat spare parts catalogue) knows. There are 2 versions of the inlet manifold. The aluminium and the "improved" plastic version. And both versions have swirl flaps inside.

But as the 1.9 16V JTDM engine in the 159 is just an improved 1.9 16V from 147 and 156 models it looks like that it is possible to fit the aluminium inlet manifold from the older engine (which does not have the swirl flaps). But in this case you need hack the ECU so it does not complain about not being able to talk to the "Electric Drive Module EAM-i" (see)

In reality both aluminium and the plastic manifold flaps are far from "intelligent" and "improved". Both are examples of Mickey Mouse engineering and the person who designed those things ought to be put in a prison where he would have to write "I will never design another inlet manifold" for the rest of his life

The theory behind the flaps is discussed in depth in the pdf link above, but in practice I doubt that anyone can feel the difference with the flaps in the manifold (properly working) or without the flaps. Any way they should stay fully open above 2000 RPM.

Otherwise the ECU and the Mickey Mouse swirl drive actuator are perfectly happy if ECU can command the actuator module to move and the actuator is happy if it can move the rod driving the flaps, even if you hammer out the flaps from the manifold. You get errors if the actuator module feels resistance when it tries to move the mechanism.

And what trouble can the flaps cause to happy 159 owners?
1. With the old aluminium manifold the driving rod can dislodge itself and swirl flaps stay in some random position or even turn randomly due to vibrations and air flow. This causes uneven engine running and loss of power in higher revs

2. With both aluminium and plastic manifold the swirl flaps can get dislodged from their shafts and get ingested into the engine where they cause digestion problems in the following forms:
2.1 they get jammed into the valve mechanism destroying the valves
2.2 they get pulverized into oblivion in the combustion chamber while damaging the head, pistons, cylinders and valves
2.3 parts of the flaps get ejected into the exhaust where they meed with the fast spinning turbo mechanism causing movie like smoke and/or flame effects.

How do I know all this?
Because I had to scrap an engine in my 159 due to the swirl flaps already. I had the 2.2 above 2.2 effect with cracked head, piston and cylinder damage. With the new engine we decided to hammer the flaps out. And guess what I don't feel any significant difference while driving and there is no difference in fuel economy. Also I get no errors since both ECU and the swirl flap Mickey Mouse actuator are thinking that they are happily moving the flaps around...

What were the designers smoking when they decided to fasten the flaps with screws and rivets... "Hey lets put as many small shiny metal parts after the air filter so they can fly into the engine!".

emre2blue: To my knowledge your engine should also have the swirl flaps fitted originally, maybe previous owner had them removed. They cant be just hammered out on the aluminium manifold since you then get holes in the manifold where the driving rod sits. But I heard that people remove the flaps and plug the holes on the aluminium version. In order to be sure what you have and don't have you need to look on the bottom side of the manifold where the actuator module should be sitting. I bet that you will see the actuator which has its drive mechanism removed/disconnected.
