908 RC, 2007'den itibaren "Le Mans Serisi" programına katılmak üzere tasarlanmış olan HDi FAP dizel motor ile donatılmış. V yerleşimli on iki silindire ve 5,5 lt'lik silindir hacmine sahip olan bu motor, 700hp’lik maksimum güç ve özellikle de 1200 Nm'lik olağanüstü bir tork ile, bir dizel motor için eşi benzeri olmayan performansa sahip.
