Hungary
Prodrive (1994)
The Rallye team Prodrive improved 25 Turbo-Imprezas briefly after their introduction in England. The engine remained untouched, but there were a new and deeper suspension, other rims as well as Recaro seats inside and a carbon gear knob. In addition the customers could decide for a sport steering wheel, if they did without the Airbag.


Series McRae (1995)
In June 1995, Prodrive produced 200 of this special edition to celebrate the victory of Colin McRae in the WRC. The cars were numbered from 1 to 201, no 13 has not been built. The price was 23.000£.

The win of the constructors title in 1996 was celebrated with this 200 cars special edition (again without the number 13). The Rally of Catalunya was the one where Subaru got the last points for the WRC-victory. The first Cats were registered in march 1997 and the price was 21,610£. Many of them were ordered with extras like sunroof or leather seats.

Terzo (1997)
The third constructors championship title in a row was celebrated with the Terzo (italian for "third"). One of the 333 cars costs 22,995 £, numbered from 1 to 334, without the 13 again.

RB5 (1999)
The return of Richard Burns to the SWRT brought this Special Edition to the Subaru fans. RB5 stands for his initials and his starting number. 444 cars were sold at the price of 24.995£. The version with the "WR Sport Performance Package" costs 27.500£.

Auch 1999 gab es ein Modell das an die Rallyeerfolge erinnern sollte. "WRC 99" stand zusammen mit der Fahrzeugnummer auf den Stickern die entweder auf der Heckklappe oder über den Seitenblinkern angebracht werden. Die schwarzen Imprezas waren mit goldenen Felgen ausgestattet und hatten blaues Alcantara-Interieur.





Netherlands
25 Stars Special Edition (1999)
Zur 25-Jahrfeier in Holland gab es die 160 Auto starke Sonderreihe "25 Stars". 40 dieser Fahrzeuge waren in schwarz, die restlichen 120 in stahlblau lackiert. Sie hatten gegenüber der Serie:

555 (1996 bis 1999)
Wie in Frankreich gab es auch in Holland eine 555-Reihe in den Modelljahren 1996 bis 1998. Diese waren äußerlich vor allem an den schwarz abgesetzten Seitenleisten zu erkennen.






Italy
Special Edition GT (1997)
This Special Edition was limited to 150 cars. It had red highlights in the seats and a number plate.



5-door Special Edition (1998)
In Italien war eine Zeit lang ein 5-türiger Kombi mit rot verzierten schwarzen Sitzen erhältlich, der ansonsten dem englischen "Catalunya" ähnelte.


WWW (1998)
WWW steht für "World Wide Winner". Die Sonderserie war auf 200 Exemplare limitiert. Sie hatten Nardi-Ledersitze mit eingeprägtem Lorbeerkranz, einen Orciari-Frontspoiler, ein pinkfarbenes Subaru-Logo, goldene Felgen sowie den STi Version IV Heckspoiler, der erst ein Jahr später serienmäßig in Europa auf den Impreza geschraubt wurde. Außerdem waren die Rückspiegel lackiert und in der Heckscheibe ist ein Aufkleber mit den 3 WM-Titeln angebracht.


WRX Plus (1999)
The WRX Plus had blue alcantara seats. The steering wheel, hand break stick and gear knob were covered in leather trim.





Australia/New Zealand
WRX Rallye (1995 and 97)
In 1995 Subaru brought this special model in an edition of 120 pieces. It had the stock 211 PS engine, was dark blue ("Prodrive blue") and had golden rims. The sport seats were replaced by competition seats and the interior was kept in flat black. The WRX Rallye is only available as a sedan. In 1997 some 52 were sold again.


WRX Club Spec (1997)
he Australian Subaru importer presented a small special series of 200 cars with the name "club Spec", which became later an annual tradition. They were available both with automatic and manual transmission, the color was 555 metallic blue. Golden rims belonged likewise to the program like red highlights in the seats. However there was not the otherwise standard Airbags in the club Spec.

WRX Silver Anniversary (1998)
To celebrate the 25-year old existence of the Australian importer, there were two special models at the birthday, the "Silver Anniversary" Impreza WRX and the Outback GX. The Impreza was painted in black and got golden rims. Only a 4-gear AT could be ordered and the stock seats were replaced by leather seats. Engine-technically the stock engine with with 211 HP was used.

WRX L.E. (1998)
100 cars of the "Limited Edition" were sold in the colours WRC Blue Mica, Dark Blue Mica, Dark Green Mica and Black Mica.


WRX Club Spec Evo 3 (1999)
150 of the club Spec Evo 3 were built. It had in car color painted side skirts, door handles and rear view mirrors and was available only in the shown "Steel Blue Mica". Furthermore it had golden rims as well as a remote control for the central locking. It did not have an automatic transmission and cost 1,700 AUS$ more than the standard WRX.



WRX Classic (1999-2000)
In February 1999 a new special edition of the Impreza was launched by Subaru Australia. The car costs AUS$ 42,990 with MT, AUS$ 44,990 with AT. The Classic had bright leather interior, a leather/wood steering wheel and gear knob (only MT version) and some aluminium applications. Only 150 cars were built of that special edition that was available only as sedan in black, dark blue and green mica. The door handles were colour coded.

One year later, a second series apeared and was also available in dark red.


WRX Club Spec Evo 4 (2000)
Only 300 units were available of the 4th Club Spec Edition (250 sedans, 50 wagons). Every car got a numbered plaque at the center console and a yellow appearance. The standard alloy wheels were painted in black. Beyond that, the package contained a CD-Radio, STi-instruments and yellow highlights in the seats. There was only a manual transmission available.




North America
2.5 RX (1998) (Non-Turbo)
Because there was no turbocharged Impreza available at the north american market, Subaru of America built a showcar in 1998, called 2.5 RX. It was the forerunner of the 2.5 RS and had the following eqipment:

To adopt the sporty image of Subaru to the American market, SoA presented this non-turbo 2.5 RS with a 168 PS engine. The torque was 162 Nm and accellerated the Impreza in only 8.1 sec to 60 mph. The price was 19,300 $. From the year 2000 on, the RS was also sold as a 4 door sedan. At the end of the first generation Impreza, 13,825 cars were sold.


Outback Sport (OBS) (Non-Turbo)
The Outback Sport was a non-turbocharged car, too. The scoop was only for optical reasons.

WRX STi 555 (1995)
Zur Feier der Rallye-WM gab es das STi-Sondermodell "555", welches man wahlweise mit den original Aufklebern des SWRT bestellen konnte. 500 Stück wurden sowohl als Sedan als auch als Wagon gebaut.


Operetta (1995) (non-turbo)
Subaru presented this cabriolet at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995. It was only a concept car and was never produced officially. Only a few enthusiasts built such an Impreza for their own.


Gravel Express (1996)
In der Klasse der kleinen Geländewagen setzte Subaru mit dem 211-PS-starken Gravel Express neue Akzente. Er bekam typische Ausstattungsmerkmale wie einen großen Kuhfänger, ein extern montiertes Ersatzrad, mehr Bodenfreiheit, sowie farblich abgesetzte Seitenverkleidungen.


WRX STi Type R Signature (1997)
At the beginning of the production of the 2-door coupés (Type R), Subaru sold a special edition called "Signature" with a yellow paint and black alloy wheels.

Electra One (1999)
The Electra One was a concept car of the later introduced S201. Nearly everything of the bodywork was different from the stock Impreza: wheels, bumper, sideskirts, spoilers, scoops, lights and also the interior.


S201 (2000)
The concept car "Electra One" was redesigned in some parts to get it on the road as a special edition of 300 cars. It now had the stock head and rear lights, 6-spoke-alloy wheels and a new spoiler. The hood scoop also disappeared.


Modelljahr 1994-2000



STi Version (1994, MY94 & MY95)-250ps
Mit diesem Modell begann ** 20. Januar 1994 Subarus Turborausch. Es war die Grundlage für die Rallye-Version des Impreza, die für die Homologation nötig war, denn der Impreza sollte den Legacy als Standart-Rallye-Auto ablösen.

Januar 1994 (MY94)
Den ersten STi gab es nur als 4-türige Stufenheckversion, er hatte genau wie der normale WRX die charakteristische Lufthutze, Lufteinlässe sowie die riesigen Nebelscheinwerfer, für die der Impreza weltweit bekannt ist. Der STi hatte in Wagenfarbe lackierte Rückspiegel, während der Type RA auf diese genauso verzichtete wie auf Seitenschweller.

Die erste Version des STi unterschied sich äußerlich erheblich von den folgenden Versionen. So hatte dieses Modell einen sehr hohen Heckflügel sowie Felgen mit angedeuteten Nieten. Später wurden dann auch die Nebelscheinwerfer durch die Abdeckungen ersetzt.

Die Type-RA-Modelle MY93 und MY94 verzichteten auf die Nebelscheinwerfer, den Heckspoiler, Radio, Klimaanlage, Fensterheber und Geräuschdämmung um 30 kg Gewicht zu sparen. Auch die später eingeführte Dachhutze wurde hier noch nicht eingebaut.

November 1994 (MY95)
Im Modelljahr 95 gab es den STi nur in der Type-RA-Version. Im Gegensatz zu den WRX, die jetzt in Wagenfarbe lackierte Türgriffe hatten, waren sie beim STi-RA immernoch schwarz. Dafür kam hier das erste Mal der Spoiler zum Einsatz, der später auch in Deutschland auf die Modelljahre 99 und 2000 montiert war. Der Type RA hatte jetzt eine Wassereinspritzung für den Ladeluftkühler, um die Leistung kurzfristig zu erhöhen. Außerdem bekam er das DCCD spendiert, das es in Deutschland erst ab MY06 serienmäßig im STi geben wird. Verzichten mußten die Käufer dafür auf ABS, durften sich aber durch die Dachhutze mit Frischluft versorgen. Hinzu kamen goldene 5-Speichen-Felgen und die Nebelscheinwerferabdeckungen.
Die WRX' wurden ab sofort mit 16-Zoll-Felgen der Dimensionen 205/50 R16 ausgestattet.

STi Version II (1995, MY96) -275ps
Die Version II wurde nicht mehr wie bisher vom Subaru-Band genommen und nur verändert. Es wurde ein offizielles Modell von Subaru. Außer einem stärkeren Motor gab es für den STi Type RA wahlweise eine direktere Lenkübersetzung.

Erstmals gab es in diesem Jahr Sondermodelle der WRX- und STi-Versionen. Der WRX V-Limited wurde 1000 mal in den Farben blau, weiß und schwarz verkauft, der Type-RA STi Version II V-Limited war auf 555 Exemplare limitiert und war nur in blau erhältlich. Die 555-Sondermodelle schließlich gab es wahlweise mit einem Rallye-Kleber-Satz als Stufenheck und Kombi.

STi Version III (1996, MY97) -280ps
Mit der Version III wurde erstmals eine 2-türige Coupé-Variante eingeführt. Diese war die Grundlage für die legendären 22B- und P1-Fahrzeuge, hatte einen großen Frontspoiler, in Wagenfarbe lackierte Seitenschweller und dunkle Heckscheiben. Desweiteren war er mit einem Gruppe-N-Getriebe sowie einer direkteren Lenkung ausgestattet und war 10 kg leichter. Mithilfe des manuell einstellbaren mechanischen Zentraldifferentials konnte man zwischen einem unter- oder übersteuernden Fahrverhalten wählen. Aufgrund des fehlenden ABS wurden die Bremsen hinten mit Doppelbremszylindern ausgestattet. Zu guter Letzt bekam der Type R auch das Wassersprüh-System des Type RA, um die Leistung kurzfristig zu erhöhen. Das Sondermodell "Signature" gab es in gelber Farbe und dunklen Alufelgen.
Außerdem neu waren die goldenen Felgen für den Type-R und eine neue Heckstoßstange ohne den Steg. Der Motor wurde erneut überarbeitet und hatte nun 280 PS, wobei einige Stimmen von 300 PS sprachen.

STi Version IV (1997, MY98)


Zwölf verschiedene Varianten des WRX sah das 98er Modelljahr, welches im Innenraum ein neues Armaturenbrett spendiert bekam. Die Veränderungen an dieser Evolutionsstufe hielten sich stark in Grenzen. Außer einigen kleinen Modifikationen ** Motor wurde nur die 2-Kolben-Bremsanlage hinten eingeführt. Der Kombi-WRX bekam eine Leistungssteigerung auf 250 PS (außer die Automatik-Version). Die STis hatten ab nun nicht mehr zwei Katalysatoren, sondern nur noch einen in der Downpipe.
Den Type R V-Limited gab es in diesem Jahr auch als nicht-STi-Version. Das wichtigste Sondermodell des Jahres war aber ohne Zweifel der 22B...

STi Version V (1998, MY99)


Bereits einen Monat vor der Markteinführung in Japan gab es die Version V bereits in Australien. Es gab einen neuen Frontspoiler (wie der der deutschen 99/2000er Modelle), sowie einen größeren Heckflügel. Insgesamt konnte so die Höchstgeschwindigkeit gesteigert werden. Die neuen Dämpfer verhalfen zu mehr Gefühl für die Straße und erhöhten den Fahrkomfort.

STi Version VI (1999, MY00)


Neben einer neuen Spoilerlippe vorn (in Wagenfarbe) erhielt die letzte Evolutionsstufe des STi einen etwas steileren Heckspoiler. Die 2000er 6-Speichen-Felgen des WRX, die etwas leichter sind als die 5-Speichen-Räder des Vorgängers, bekam nur der Kombi-STi.
Optional konnte man sich kleinere Rückspiegel bestellen, um Gewicht und Luftwiderstand zu verringern. Außerdem erhielt die Version VI eine neue Kupplung.
