Mini Type-R
This has to be one of the coolest Minis laying rubber on the world’s highways. Not only is the bodywork in tip-top condition, it’s also packing a B16A2 Honda V-Tec engine making it quicker than a Japanese lightening fish.
Owner Steve Titherly and a handful of his buddies have set about working on his 1994 Mini Sprite and turning it from Sunday shopper to street sleeper.
From the exterior nothing is given away about what lurks beneath the carbon-fibre bonnet, except for the burbling, big-brake Honda motor. The removable weight saving front is not just for braggin’ rights or looking pretty - it’s simply for saving seconds and going fast.
This ride is cool in car form, not attracting any unwanted attention. The big red H engine is always on tap should Steve feel the need to put someone back in their place. The Civic engine is pushing out 162bhp thanks to being fitted with performance filters, DTA engine management system and a custom 21/2-inch bore exhaust.
If you ever get a rear-view mirror full of Mini, just move out the way as you could end up being royally owned buy this V-Tec packing old timer. You have been warned.
